I noticed that smart dice rolling has been implemented for the Champion Fighter subclass for Beyond20, and it shows critical hits at natural 19, 18, etc. I'd like to use this for a Homebrew subclass, but when I create a copy of the Champion and look at the class feature, it looks like it's only a text description. There doesn't appear to be any mechanical feature like a bonus, etc. Is this hard-coded somewhere? How can I add an improved critical to a Subclass? I'm open to using a Feat or a custom magic item if that's the only way.
It's probably hard-coded into Beyond20, which is a 3rd-party extension, so you'd need to take it up with them. It may just be checking for a feature named "Improved Critical".
