Right, so every time I attempt to create a new encounter or modify an existing one, I get the following popup message. For over a week now.
Unfortunately, we encountered an error while trying to save.
We have automatically logged this error giving us a +2 to our Investigation check to help prevent future errors.
In the meantime, you could refresh the page and try building your encounter again. We're sorry for the inconvenience.
The only thing that's changed in the last week is adding another member to the party, which required a lot of Deactivating existing characters in the campaign in order to find the new one on the list, then Modifying characters in the tracker. Seems like something in that process is broken, as the encounters then won't save. I found one single old encounter that for some reason is working ok and I've taken to Creating a Duplicate, renaming, and then completely remaking the encounter rather than Edit or New. It's not fun. Please advise.
Attempted:
Clearing Cache (no effect)
New, Edit, and Duplicate Encounter (Duplicate saves sometimes)
Reactivating an old character from a player whose content is shared but is no longer participating (does not save)
Saving with only some characters selected (does not save)
Saving encounter with no characters added (save works)
I had this issue and I found it to be a extra PC a player had made in the campaign to test things out. Since the PC wasn't fully built with like class levels picked it was messing up my encounter builder. But when I changed the encounter to no longer calculate that PC it seemed to fix it.

Hey, that was it! I had a player drop a new unfinished character in during the week and it slipped past my notice. Explains how I thought it was working and then it wasn't again. Thanks a ton. Isn't a fix by any means but at least it's a much easier workaround.
