Loving the containers update so far, but it seems that at least one item has been overlooked as a container, the Case, Map or Scroll.
I often use these on characters that carry paper, scrolls and maps, so it'd be great if this could be classified as a container in the same way as a backpack, a pouch etc.

Not necessarily as neat as actually having other types of containers as actual items you can select in inventory; however, you can add a backpack or pouch and customize the name and weight properties. Just call it "Case", "Map", or the name of your trusted mule.
It took me some time to find out that if you click on what looks like a section header for the container (the part that usually has the number of items in () beside it and a line underneath) it pulls up the item window on the right and you can customize like normal.
We considered this item being flagged as a container.
With the initial iteration of containers, there's a restriction - you cannot place a container within another container.
On review, we discovered that it was far more likely that people would want to put their scroll case in another container (backpack) than to use it as a container.
I expect future additions to the system will allow what you're asking for.
That seems... bizarre to me More likely, people are getting the scroll case because they like the idea of it, and are trying to be thorough and immersed, but then find they can't use it and so just stick it in their backpack, aloing with their scrolls, as a workaround. Did you actually poll your users? or did you just look at usage statistics?
I'm a software dev myself, so I'm asking out of curiosity. If you did the former, well, then, that's the way users want it I guess, but if not...
I would imagine that if the scroll case was indeed a container I would store it inside my robes (have a special pocket made that would be descriptive only not expect my Robes of whatever to be itself a container OR I would think to store it on my belt.... but then again maybe it would bounce on my leg to much :P hmm... only magical containers go boom in the realms so why not be able to store containers within containers... I could see a scroll case in a chest so why not in a backpack... but in essence even if it just was it's own entity and we flavor where we store it and GM is ok then let us be.
For me the scroll case seems like the sort of item you have so your maps/scrolls are more accessible than having to rifle through your backpack for them, so I usually end up customising a bolt case to say it's a scroll case (and have it's stats) instead, rather than using the actual provided item, just so I can use it as intended
Yes, we all do that workaround. That's not the point. The point is. A scroll case is listed as a CONTAINER, but you can't actually put anything IN it. That is an issue that needs to be fixed, and the official word "Our research shows people don't actually want to put things in it." Is, quite frankly, baloney. As a developer myself, I understand the challenge of nesting a container within a container. However, that's just a challenge, not an impossibility. My guess is that they made the scroll case a container, then discovered Bad Things happened if you put the case in a backpack, and removed the functionality from it. I understand, but I still find it unacceptable. Why have a scroll case at all, if you can't use it as an organizational tool?
I more meant that if they use any form of usage statistics to conclude that people just stick them in Backpacks, then my usage wouldn't turn up as technically, as far as the statistics are concerned, I'm using Bolt Cases rather than Scroll Cases to do the job, as I imagine plenty of other people who want to achieve the same effect probably also do. I do understand why they might steer away from allowing you to put containers in other containers, due to coding issues or something, but at least giving us 2 versions (one a container and one not for Backpacks) should still be possible, or at the very least allowing you to make Custom Items as a container, so you don't have mismatched descriptions. I do think, myself, that if I intended to keep Scrolls or Parchment in a Backpack, I probably wouldn't bother getting a Scroll Case for them, and just stick them in with the rest of my stuff, but I can imagine someone wanting their char to be super organised and having everything sectioned out into different categories, and wanting non mechanical versions to stick in there to represent that, at least until they are able to sort out container stacking.
I'm surprised that this issue has been known for this long without being addressed. It seems like a relatively simple fix.
I’m morbidly amused that as of this moment there are at least ~~two~~ CORRECTION: three topics on just the first page of the “Bugs and Support” section which were first brought up years ago, which were stated to be being worked on or otherwise likely to be fixed in the future, and which still persist as issues to this day.

Yes, I also would like this to be marked as a container.

Agree - would be great if this worked like backpack or pouch

Is it in the roadmap to be able to homebrew containers?
