Wondering if I am misunderstanding this game mechanic or if the D&D Beyond system has a bug.
For context, I am a 5th level character (Paladin Lv4, Warlock Lv1) using the Vengeful Blade cantrip to attack with my Melee weapon using Charisma (Pact of the Blade)
Based upon the below, I believe the system should allow the normal weapons attack (1d8+6) + 1d8 necrotic damage. Then if the target makes an attack or casts a spell, they would take an additional 2d8 necrotic damage.
The Character Sheet in Beyond only shows the 2d8 necrotic under the notes for my Melee weapons.
Is the Vengeful Blade missing the 1d8 bonus at Lv5 or am I not understanding the Cantrip correctly?
For context, Booming Blade has a similar effect and scaling, but requires the target to move for the additional 2d8 Thunder damage. This shows up under the Melee weapon as: 1d8 Thunder ; 2d8 Thunder (Moving Target)
Vengeful Blade
EvocationCantrip
You brandish the weapon used in the spell’s casting and make a melee attack with it against one creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects and then radiates a dark aura of energy until the start of your next turn. If the target makes an attack or casts a spell before then, the target takes 1d8 necrotic damage and the spell ends.
This spell’s damage increases when you reach certain levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to the target on a hit, and the damage the target takes for making an attack or casting a spell increases to 2d8. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 at 11th level (2d8 and 3d8) and again at 17th level (3d8 and 4d8).
2 things…. You can use vengeful blade AND pact of the blade together? How? I’m very new to all this. Also for vengeful blade, there’s nothing in the HIT/DC column, so what would I roll to see if it hits or not? Same for Booming Blade, there’s nothing to roll to see if it hits. Again, I’m extremely new to all of this.
Both spells ask you to make a melee attack with a weapon. That attack would use the weapon’s stats for the attack roll, and that weapon can be the one designated as your pact weapon,

I’ve passed that on to the devs for review. Thanks!

Any word on this? Not sure what the process is for review and potential updates.
It's been shared with the devs. I don't know the status beyond that.
