I'm currently messing around with Maps. I'm wondering is there a way as a DM log in to be able to see the player's version of the map along with the DM version of the map. Reason being, I need one to be able to clear the fog of war on, and one to display on a monitor for the people in person to see (they don't need to be staring at their phones or have laptops open the whole time). If not, understandable as it's all currently in Alpha now, but any suggestions on how to pull this off? I kind of got it to work with 2 different D&D beyond accounts logged in, but even that wasn't perfectly what I wanted as a long of switching back and forth.
i used a player login but your right it should have that capacity,
my issue is that when assigning monster tokens it keeps crashing,
Im curious if its because im plotting the whole map prior to the game of if its because of the server?? is anyone else having this issue?
id also be keen to know if all the adventure maps are going to be added to the library of just new adventures and if they have considered an option to auto populate the maps with the encounter tokens to save time - have it as an option to allow personalisation should the DM want it. it would save so much time. - im currently doing the mad mages dungeon and talk about mundane.. just wish the monster catalogue wouldnt keep crashing on me.
currently it's not possible to show both version versions of qof the map at the same time. I solved the issue by login in to a player account on an incognito sesion of my browser on a second screen.
so far i have not faced any issue with tokens, both with setting it up in advance or adding them in the moment.
according to the comunication around this the older maps will also be added in slowly. new maps that will be part of any future releases will be added to maps on release.
i hope it is part of the roadmap to link maps to encounters but as far as i can see it's not part of the public roadmap.
so im using a custom map for my homebrew campaign, i own all the source books but dont have the required tokens for monsters i need, any idea how to get these tokens or upload them?
edit all tokens have now appeaed, seems i was just too eager and didnt wait long enough
I am just testing out DnD Maps for the first time and am at a total loss. When the Map Browswer opens up the only maps I have access to are the Basic maps and maps from the adventure Giants of the Star Forge. I have purchased several adventures and source books but none of them are appearing as options for me to get maps from. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?
Thank you, that explains it. The adventures I have purchased are not yet available. I will wait until they are added to test this out. I appreciate your response!
I cannot get separate views of DM VIEW in one browser and PLAYER VIEW in another browser AT ALL.
I have an INCOGNITO FireFox browser logged into my DM account and a INCOGNITO Chrome browser logged into one of my guest player accounts and no mater what I do in the DM browser it shows up exactly the same in the other browser! The data MUST be going through the dndbeyond account - because there are no cookies being stored as they are both INCOGNITO windows. This makes the maps mostly useless! I can't even open a 3rd browser to open any other map and do "look ahead" as NO MATTER WHAT I DO - ALL browsers show exactly the same thing at the same time.
Useless.
But hey, I'd love to be wrong here! Please correct me!
I created a seperate dummy account to look at the player version of the map and that works perfectly having the one i use to DM on the main browser and the dummy account logged in on an incognito browser.
So just starting to mess around in Maps. Am I missing something or what, but is there no scroll bar to move between maps in a selected source? I mean I can arrow key once I select a map, but that seems incredibly inconvenient, and I would think that something as simple as a scroll bar for a window would be one of the most basic functionalities even in an Alpha. So am I just missing something?
As I mentioned, you can scroll down the list using the arrow keys provided you either have already selected a map or select an expandable/collapsible heading. It just seems a very odd choice to not include a scroll bar for navigation. I was just trying to verify if it was simply something I missed.
Just want to make sure - Currently there is no way to add custom tokens correct? Other than the clunky create your own monster method? Right now Roll20 is still the better option in my opinion (or Foundry, Fantasy Grounds, Owlbear Rodeo, etc).
So you are making an assumption that someone is using a mouse with a scroll wheel. What about the thousands of users utilizing a tablet or laptop with a touchpad (which is one of the main reasons the application is web-based)? And even then, you still have to select part of the dual window to activate which part the scroll wheel will move...which is the same issue as using the arrow keys. It seems you are under the assumption that I said you could NOT scroll. Instead, I was pointing out a very standard scrolling tool which seems to be missing from the implementation.
Unsure if this is the right place to ask this.

Nothing has been comunicated about being able to upload tour own tokens. as far as i can see nothing about it is on the roadmap.
You can create a homebrew monster and upload the avatar images, these will be used as images on the Monster tokens in Maps.
Homebrew monsters would be the way to add tokens.

@Phedrerbus - The following campaigns are currently available in Maps.
I got this from the following link:

I would suspect it's indeed based on the account

where are you missing the option to scroll? in the map browser and on the map selector you can just scroll.
There are no vertical scroll bars on the map browser.

you can just scroll, despite there not being a scroll bar.
Link was updated.

No you can scroll using the scroll wheel, it just doesn't show a scroll bar

The scrollbar missing is a valid point.
however you said you had to use the arrow keys which is just not the case you can scroll just fine.
