From the item description for Insignia of Claws it says:
While wearing the insignia, you gain a +1 bonus to the attack rolls and the damage rolls you make with unarmed strikes and natural weapons. Such attacks are considered to be magical.
When it's added to a character sheet it does add the +1 bonus to both unarmed strikes and natural weapons (I have a dhampir with a natural weapon bite attack), but it does not change the damage type to be magical piercing or magical bludgeoning. Is there a way to update this, or even manually override the damage types on the attacks?
Yeah, you won't be able to set that in DDB itself. This is something you'd have solve within Avrae instead.
The simplest solution is to just add magical when you use the attack.
!a unarmed magical -t Bob
Alternatively, you could make an alias so you don't have to type that in full every time.
!alias claws a unarmed magical !claws -t Bob
If you really want to just bake it into the attack itself, that's possible, too, but that'll take the most work. If you want to do it anyway, though, I can walk you through it. I'd need more details about your character first.
Well, I assume you're not using the default 1 + STR for Unarmed Strike damage. What damage are they using instead? Is this a monk, for example, and if so which version (2014 or 2024)?
If you want to send a link to the character, that's the best way to proceed here. Please make sure in their character settings that "Character Privacy" is set to "Public" as well.
In the meantime, let's remove your existing Unarmed Strike, so it won't conflict with the new one.
On your DDB character sheet, click the label for your Unarmed Strike attack. Then open the Customize section in the sidebar and uncheck "Display as Attack".
Back in Avrae, run !update then !a list to confirm your Unarmed Strike has been removed.
And I think I see where you're going - is it that it's not possible to make the attack magical in DnD Beyond, so hide the attack and build a new one from scratch in the Avrae dashboard? If so I think I follow, I can get that set up. Thank you! I wasn't sure if there was a way to do it keeping everything on the sheet also, but I can make this work. Thank you very much for your help!

Asking sincerely: What’s the use case here? Why is this an issue?

I use DnD Beyond with Avrae on discord, it changes how the attacks are automated and it messes up resistances.

Thank you! Baking it into the attack would be ideal, if that's okay. What information do you need about the character?
