Bonus hit points gives you hit point back, aka heals - it’s what you would use if you were homebrewing a healing spell. If it affected your max HP it would specify max HP (you can see there are other options elsewhere in the dropdown that specify Max $thing). Hopefully someone can confirm if there is a way to do what you want - you might just have to create a dummy item so the player has a reference for what it does (and charges if limited use), but when it’s in use they have to manually go in and override their Max HP on their character page.
I have an item that I am trying to implement that increases the player's max hit points by a certain value.
So, what I have done is used a modifier: bonus, and modifier sub-type of Hit Points, and fixed value entered the desired hit points
However, when the player attunes to the item, their max HP does not change.
I was wondering if this was possible in any other way, or even perhaps if the bonus hit points thing is not meant for adding extra max hp.
Thanks in advance!
