When making my character, Joseph Whittiman, my friend helped me give him two classes which were Rogue + Cleric. He uses a ring to summon his divine energy while being a support character! I like the fact that he's a mix of a trapper and also a supporter, because it gives me more time to think on how I could possibly have him be the ideal of someone sneaky but also caring. I'm still new here so, sorry if I'm saying anything wrong!
If you’re new, I’d recommend staying away from a multiclass, as a poorly done multiclass will make your character ineffective. Especially a rogue/cleric which would be extra tough to make work very well.
Instead, I’d consider a cleric and use the wayfarer (under 24 rules) background. And maybe go for trickery domain. That gets you the cleric, with some rogue-adjacent tricks.
As far as the ring, it’s not, technically, an option under RAW (rules as written). But a DM may allow it, so long as it basically means that hand is full, like it would be if you were to use one of the standard spell focus options.
