Wildshaping into an air elemental (which allows you to fly) and casting concentration and non-concentration spells like the following:
Non-concentration: long-strider (for more speed), fire shield, freedom of movement (which allows you to move through difficult train like Plant Growth)
Concentration: any conjure/summoning spells (conjure woodland beings, conjure/summon elemental, etc.), Plant Growth, Reverse Gravity (as long as you can fly), Fly
Or cast Fire Storm and Wildshape into a Fire Elemental.
In general, any spell that creates a wall (e.g., Wall of Thorns/Stone) is a great way to control (by dividing) a battlefield.
Wow, I like the dark themes of Drow and the Stars subclass. I didn’t realize Guiding Bolt was available for the Stars Druid (my druid gets it from the Cleric Magic Initiate feat). What party role does she fill and what’s a typical combat encounter look like for her?

I thought it was a thematically interesting combo, which is why I went for that!
She mainly fills the support role in the party and a typical combat encounter usually consists of having various healing ready to go (mainly cure wounds, healing word, and revivify as an optional Druid spell) with the starry form chalice up at the same time for extra healing. This is combined with produce flame/guiding bolt for main offence spells and charm person/entangle/hold person for some crowd control. Have been trying to go with a more offensive strategy recently by using more produce flame/guiding bolt with starry form archer active, whilst having some side healing going (aura of vitality and healing spirit, as these cannot trigger Chalice form healing anyway) - so far this has been going pretty decently!
First-time Druid user and I've been playing a Pallid Elf Circle of Stars for my Shattered Obelisk Campaign.
Honestly due to our Party Comp being mostly martials, I thought I was going to be more of a Support Caster but I've been outputting amazing damage with Starry Form Archer and consistent Guiding Bolts. Tied in with Moonbeam and entangle to lock down areas, its been really fun. I went for Spell Sniper and ThornWhip as my main damage cantrip and have been loving my blasty starry boy.
Hey, the more I learn about the Circle of Stars subclass, the more I like it. The first thing I like is that the CoS allows a druid to use a bow, albeit a magical one. This was clever of the designers as it feels fairly natural for a class like druids to use a bow. I also really (really) love that CoS gives druids access to (multiple castings of) Guiding Bolt off of the Cleric's spell list. This spell is a perfect, low level, single-target type of offensive spell that is missing from the Druid's spell list, and so makes your druid well rounded #applause
IMO, your party role sounds ideal for a druid, which is a very powerful casting class--made even more powerful with the CoS.

Congrats on coming over to the Ancient Side and the best class in the game ;) Two thoughts on your notion of going Moon Druid;
While fabulous in early and mid levels, my gut feeling is that they lose their awesomeness in higher levels (if your game goes that far)
You love spellcasters but you can't cast while in Wild Shape, and it seems Moon Druids spend a lot of time in Wild Shape.
For various reasons (mostly coz my Druid is a legacy character fro AD&D days) I've gone the simple and predictable Druid of the Land (Forest) which gets me an extra (offensive) cantrip which is very handy at low levels. While my Wild Shapes don't ever get real high CR-wise, I've found other ways to turbocharge them :)
Yeah I changed it to an Astral Elf instead. The Aasimar didn't suit me. I'll check yours out. I played dumb in the campaign and ended up killing my stars druid and switched to a Dreams Druid. I may just avoid Druid next and go for Horizon Walker Ranger with the Astral Elf.

Astral elves are great. we had one as a bladesinger in that campaign. How was the dream druid? They don't have a great rep. I like the idea of swarmkeeper so may try one in a one shot one day, but for full campaigns i like full spellcasters. Working on a Scribes wizard for a one shot a week or so from now.
she's my first ever dnd character for my first ever campaign. i love her dearly. she is the main healer of the group-but often refuses to heal team members when they disrespect her or anything/anybody she cares about. she's a bit stereotypical on the surface but she's somewhat of a werewolf. she goes feral every full moon (perks of being raised by a pack of wolves for 50 years of her life) and is oblivious to social cues (she has -1 charisma ). she is super fun for my first campaign! she's level 4 at the moment

Dream druid are fine if you can manage to stay away from melee. My action has been a lot of Dodge or trying to cast area control spells then wildshaping into a spider to get out of sight and keep concentration. It's also handy if an enemy goes down and I can use Balm of the Summer Court while in spider form. I'm only level 4 but the thought of going into Avernus with the Chef feat and Hearth of Moonlight and Shadow seemed good. I'm one if the weird ones who like to play elves with nature classes so Dreams Druid is an Eladrin. I did Spring so I can teleport the melee adventurers over my area control spell into the enemy if needed.

Meet Tharus Udron, a Druid of the Stars. A former smuggler for a secretive syndicate, he was dragged into a brewing war between the Dragonhold Empire and the Allied Nations. A Chaotic Good lizardfolk, he often does what is unexpected of him. He is a charitable individual, and yet his rough exterior often scares away the very people he is trying to help. I play him as a support character, maintaining that the party is fed. He looks to the stars for guidance and often relies on omens (In the form of his Cosmic Omen feat) to determine how the day will play out. Of course, the last several sessions have been in an underground Dwarven city, so he has felt extremely out of his element--So much so that the tension with the party came to a head this last week when he cast Reduce on the Barbarian and dropped her into a pit after she was taken over by a malicious entity and attacked her companions.
I love playing this character as the grizzled, yet kind guy that's "seen some stuff." He's taken the very insecure Tiefling Bard under his wing and has helped get his confidence up. Giving him some inspiring words, convincing him a mundane weapon is a "Shortsword of Strengthened Resolve" when he just bought him a shortsword and used Druidcraft to create some intricate vinework on the hilt. Our DM gave the Bard a +1 to wisdom saving throws because of how well I was able to convince him.
Awesome. I love the Lizardfolk druid concept, esp b/c of the AC bonus to a class that can't wear armor. I feels like that in combat you're equally effective casting spells, entering melee and wildshaping.

Yeah. I also absolutely loved throwing my party for a loop when I didn't start eating the bodies. I mean, I cannibalized a Gnoll, but that was about it, because I felt Gnolls to be an affront to nature. Everything else I usually give a proper burial to, which straight up shocked both the other players and my DM, who made the comment "You're the first Lizardfolk I've had that didn't eat someone."
I'm new to DND and playing my first campaign. In Baldur's gate 3, I was a Moon druid. I've played a Restoration druid in world of warcraft since I joined like 12 years ago, so healing and druids is something that comes naturally to me, so when I saw Dream's druids I was excited to play it.. until I realized it was a great theme but pretty weak.
We homebrewed some stuff to really fulfill the Dreams/healer aspect, like increasing the healing on Balm of the summer court, making Hearth of Moonlight and shadow a bit better and gave him a spell list which included sleep, because for some reason dream druids can't learn sleep?
Faron is a Wood Elf living in a world plagued by famine and drought. His Grove's sacred idle has the power to speed up the growth and size of crops, but it was stolen. He was bored of the mundane life and wanted exciting adventure and to see the world, so he used this as an excuse to leave the Grove and find it.
I really wanted to lean into the Fey aspect, so he's actually the Fey type and not humanoid, he was born the Dream Lands and that's why he has a connection to it. My character is supposed to be kind, but he's very impulsive and acts before he thinks, with a playful and mischievous side due to his Fey origin.
I'm having a blast so far! He keeps rolling and messing things up, which is in character. Like trying to help someone lift something heavy only for his horrible strength to kick in and cause him to drop and break it. Or trying to impress the Dwarf party member by gulping down some hard ale as fast as he can, only to spit it out all over the bar. The dwarf got a chuckle out of that.
Hey, I like your fey, wood elf druid concept. I really like how you have your wild shape and find familiar options added to your character sheet so you don't slow down the game. How did you get the Sleep spell as a Druid?
