By that logic, should I boost my strength to 15 and drop my dexterity to 8 to get heavy armor, or is medium armor and a 13 strength / 12 dexterity enough?
Are you planning on taking the Great Weapon Master or the Polearm Master feats? If you plan on picking up one of them later on then a 14 STR start is more ideal. Or you could just stick with 13 STR and use chainmail with the Defense fighting style to get to a respectable 17 AC.
I wanted to focus on Charisma and Constitution, so I guess I’m going Strength 13 and Chain Mail, but if I’m planing on using one weapon anyway, would the dueling fighting style be better than a +1 to armor?
One weapon? Do you mean One-handed weapon? I was under the assumption that you were going to use a Heavy weapon like a Great Sword or a Maul and that was why you needed 13 STR. Heavy weapons require both hands to attack so the dueling fighting style is not going to help out much.

Oh. Yes i was, but i assumed since it was one weapon that it counted as dueling. I guess that I was wrong. Guess I’ll go with defense after all… unless I should be relying on sword and board for up close but sticking with eldritch blast and far away distances.
Just so I’m clear, what about casting spells with a two-handed weapon like a greatsword? I was under the impression you could let go with one hand without dropping it and cast them, but if I was wrong about dueling I could most certainly be wrong about that.

Two-handed weapons only need to be held in two hands when you're actually making an attack with them. You can hold a two-handed weapon in one hand while using the other hand to do the somatic component of a spell.

Ok, that’s what I thought. Thanks!
The one downside about not starting with Warlock is i don’t need all the starter equipment with Pact of the Blade. All I would “need” is armor, rations, water jug and a bed-mat. If I start fighter I need at least 1 weapon. I guess I could borrow a weapon from a teammate? Maybe if we didn’t start at level 1, but I can’t always count on that.

Or am I just being too much of a Verdan (Goblin)?
You can always take the starting gold amount instead of starting gear and just buy the things you want.

Good point. That gives me an idea.
I think I will go back to two weapon fighting and hex!
i can take the starting gold and buy the rapier since that’s all I can use until level 6 and use the pact of the blade to get the less damaging scimitar! That way I’m purchasing the minimum I need without being stuck with a weapon I will never use again if i went heavier.
1. Should I work in Pact of the Chain or even Pact of the Tome for a familiar so I can get advantage on my first hit, better ensuring i get a hit and thus trigger vex to have a better chance on the following hits? I could replace visions of distant realms since i could have an familiar, let alone an invisible one with the Imp to copy the eye’s invisibility. From there it’s just a matter of when i should take it. My current ones in order are Pact of the Blade, Agonizing Blast, Lessons of the First ones (Tough), Eldritch Smite, Thirsting Blade, Repelling Blast , Pact of the Chain, Devouring Blade, Witch’s Sight and Lifedrinker..
and
2. Do I get to apply hex damage to the graze property of weapons like the greatsword? Right now I’m relying on two weapons, but if I was ever weaponless and needed a single weapon I could get one of the Pact of the Blade. I would just need to change my stats, decreasing my dexterity and wisdom in favor of my strength. Of course, at that point is it even worth using two weapons when I could use martial weapons, let alone better armor?

To #2: No. the damage only applies when you hit with an attack roll. Graze doesn’t have an attack roll. But Cleave does
Chicks dig Greataxes anyway!!! ;-) I read this thread because I'm playing a Word Tree Barb w/ Greataxe and am going to multi into either Champion Fighter or Echo Knight. Like you I was considering going dual wielder / two weapon fighter for extra attacks and higher crits with CF or more attacks with EK....hearing the arguments I'm going to stick with GA and EK. You might also want to consider the new Durable Feat and or Slasher to increase your tanky-fu. Here is Durable:
Ability Score Increase. Increase your Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
Defy Death. You have Advantage on Death Saving Throws.
Speedy Recovery. As a Bonus Action, you can expend one of your Hit Point Dice, roll the die, and regain a number of Hit Points equal to the roll.
Here is Slasher:
Ability Score Increase. Increase your Strength or Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
Hamstring. Once per turn when you hit a creature with an attack that deals Slashing damage, you can reduce the Speed of that creature by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
Enhanced Critical. When you score a Critical Hit that deals Slashing damage to a creature, it has Disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of your next turn.

Graze also specifically says its damage can’t be increased by things like this anyway.

Interesting, maybe I’ll go with a greataxe instead of a greatsword. Unless I should focus on my dexterity instead of strength,
