I've been brainstorming tanky builds for a while. This is what I settled on. ( I am using some unearthed arcane stuff, also 2014 rules)
Lvl 2: Wizard. Gives cantrips like booming blade and green flame blade. Gives spells like shield.
Subclass: Bladesinger. Increases AC, movement speed, and helps concentration checks.
Lvl 3: barbarian. Rage gives me more resistances, danger sense gives flavor, and reckless attack is a double edge sword.
subclass: Ancestral guardian, buffs my allies while raging. Forcing the enemy to attack me
Lvl 7 fighter: Fighting style defense or dueling. Second wind allows me to recover. Action surge allows me to use cast a spell and a attack or a cantrip. Extra attack can lead to some pretty insane combos with cantrips.
Subclass: Cavalier. After some long thought I picked cavalier, because it's my favorite subclass, and unwavering mark allows me to attack more, protect teammates, and bully enemies. Warding Maneuver allows me to add ac and increase tankinis and survivability of my allies and me.
My race is unearthed arcane warforged. Since the author never intended the integrated plating to be specifically what they're called this allows me to use the heavy plating and blade song. This allows me to have 16 + my proficiency bonus. Which gives me a base ac of 20.
In conclusion, I can control the battle field, support my teammates, tank with ac an resistances, and I have decent hitpoints.
My stats are str 16 dex 10 con 17 int 17 wis 8 cha 8
I wouldn't go that route, you lose too much ASI/feats from too much MC.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
