I think that high elf would be the best pick race, especially as you get an extra cantrip. I would take toll the dead, as it has good damage and deals necrotic damage, which at level one not many creatures have resistance to. Maybe frostbite for its ability to give people disadvantage on attacks. Is that enough of a breakdown? If not, then sorry, cause typing on a phone takes a long time... And it hurts your fingers...

Level 7 to level 11 it might be worth it to use Booming Blade but you also might consider not for one reason:
The BA attack you get from a crit or killing a creature with GWM.
Booming Blade + Maul with BA War Mage: 2(2d6 +15) (Assuming you maxed STR) + 1d8= 48.5 damage.....57.5 if they move
Regular attacks: 2(2d6 +15) = 44 damage
Regular attacks but you crit or you reduce a creature to 0 hp: 3 (2d6+15) = 66 damage average
With the regular attacks you also leave open your BA for things like Second Wind or a BA spell from an item or scroll.
True, but that is not reliable, that one will kill the creature their attacking in one or two hits. And if you're not using spellcasting offensively what's the point of going Eldritch Knight as opposed to Battlemaster or Berserker? Later those cantrips turn into 3d8 + 4d8, or 3d6 +4d6 (green flame blade), and the initial damage can crit.
I'll let the damage numbers speak for themselves and yes if you get shadowblade + upcast cantrip it's starting to get better but the reality is after level 11 it doesn't make any sense to use cantrip + BA attack.
I think you would be hard pressed to find a majority of people who pick Eldtrich Knight for damage. It's mostly built as a defense build TBH

I get that it is MORE damage, it's just not MORE reliable. Hitting isn't guaranteed, especially with the -5, and then it's got to be a killing blow or a critical hit which also aren't guaranteed. Sure weak mobs exist but overkill is inefficient. I don't disagree with the numbers.
GWM with 4 attacks at level 20: https://imgur.com/PgZszGi (This is not even accounting for the chance of a 5th attack from BA which could happen.)
As you can see even with the higher percentage to hit the DPR for "Normal" (No DIS/ADV)its not much of a contest for "Average" damage.
If you can get ADV (Like via Greater Invisibility) the DPR jumps ahead of Shadowblade build so dramatically.
So I would suggest you go GWM build with focus on getting ADV for hits.
Now for the crit damage the number of dice would definitely favor the Shadowblade build but you are risking a better average DPR for potential crit numbers which is viable but should be taken into account.

Oh awesome, thank you! Can you share the dpr calculator with me? That s exactly the kind of tool I need.

When accounting for DPR (Damage per Round) I factor in AC and the accuracy using a DPR calculator.
Here are the numbers for an enemy with 18 AC:
Shadow blade (4th level) plus max Booming blade (3d8) with BA attack: Booming Blade Attack and BA Shadowblade Attack
GWM with 4 attacks at level 20: https://imgur.com/PgZszGi
