Nerd Immersion YouTube has a part 2 of the Mordenkainen’s Monsters of the Multiverse Races leak where he states that all racial unarmed attacks (natural weapons etc) are being bumped to 1d6. Do you think that means the Next Evolution Monk will start with 1d6 unarmed strikes?
All in all it wouldn't change all that much since the early game power of Monks comes mainly from the number of attacks and thus the amount of times you get to add your ability modifier to the damage instead of the size of their damage dice (and one of those is usually bigger due to using monk weapons anyway). If they do it, fine. If not, also fine.
I somewhat agree. Would just be odd if they change all racial attacks to 1d6 but not monks. And there are monk subclass features that are based on the martial arts die, not weapon die or with any modifiers, so those would get a needed boost, I think.
Like Mercy Monk, Astral Arms monk, Drunken Master, etc have abilities that steer you towards unarmed strikes instead of weapons.
Who knows? In Fizbans, the breath weapon of the ascendent dragon monk is worse then the racial breath weapon for dragon born so i would not put it past the designers to keep it at a d4 for monks. Sigh.......

That would be nice. It wouldn't make much sense to punish every race without natural weapons for choosing to be a monk.
Although Variant human can already pick up the unarmed fighting style for a d8, so this would basically just be good balancing.
It would be a move in the right direction, if nothing else.
