Hmm, I haven't heard of that one, what is the subclass about? is that book generally balanced?
The subclass is about healing, basically. It gains features that allow casting of healing spells by spending ki points, and a special protection against instant death.
As for the balance of the book, I've not found anything that sticks out as being clearly overly potent, but there are a few things (a prestige class and a magic item, so far) that are accidentally under-potent (and in both those cases, it appears to be the result of misunderstanding how resistance to damage from nonmagical weapons works - since the features of both are to treat a weapon as being a specific material, but granted after it is already treated as magic so it gains nothing from being treated as a specific material)
Sweet, I'll look into it, we're always looking for more high quality options.
I like the Shadow and Elements Monks, but I have to houserule both.
Shadow gets the teleport at level 3, but it's your speed, and there is no advantage to an attack until level 6, at which point you also get +10ft speed when in dim light or darkness, and doesn't get silence until level 6.
Four Elements does spells at 1ki/spell level, or equivalent (usually that means 1 less ki per discipline), and add some of the later addition elemental spells, with the Avatar style elemental cantrips for free.
What I'm playing right now is the drunken master.
Altho I have considered adding a lesser version of tipsy Sway as a 1ki ability, because I feel it is central to have that redirection.
Something about Sun Soul just works for me. It's probably not the best by any means but I enjoy the ranged attacks and its theme on top of the core Monk kit.

Yeah the Sun Soul really speaks to me as well. Most other Monk orders don't, but this one just sounds fun to me.
That is because sun soul is literally Ryu/Ken/Akuma/Sakura/Dan from Street Fighter (or any clone of these in other games) or with a little bit more imagination it is right up Dragon Ball fighters over all.
Shadow would probably be the best. If the monk teleport and casts darkness around the spellcaster, then half of the battle is done. Follow up with silence and stun lock until death.

Both silence and darkness are concentration spells, a monk can only have one of them in use at a time.

I might.

I'm a huge JoJo fan so Tranquility Monk gets my Josuke kick for me whenever I want it.

I really like the Kensai something about Longsword as a monk weapon rocks, and being able to use Longbow as well. Then just add the Sharpshooter feat.
Professional computer geek
You use darkness first to get in close. Once you are hitting him drop darkness and hit him with silence.
... am I the only guy that loves the hell out of Drunken Fist?
Drunken Master is one of the best swashbuckling sword-fighters in the game, IMO.
Right up there with Swashbuckler Rogue and Battle Master Dex Fighter.
