I am playing a Way of the Astral Self monk in my Icewind Dale campaign. We are currently level 7 and I have gone full monk up to this point. I'm wondering if multiclassing is worth it at some point? The DM says that the campaign may end when we hit level 15, although he is considering extending the campaign by a few levels.
The best multiclass option I can think of is the Echo Knight fighter. But if there are other options I am open to them. My monk's stats are Str (11), Dex (16), Con (19), Int (10), Wis (18), Cha (14). He is a variant human with the Lucky feat and Shadow-touched (+1 wis) feat. https://ddb.ac/characters/39483951/fJ7k2u
I think the point where you "question" monk stuff is once you hit level 17.. some of the subclasses don't really have much flavor past 17 so it's incredibly tempting to dip into another area. My thoughts have always been geared towards what the campaign requires, and whether or not I want to RP something to give me some utility avenues.
unless it’s other than flavor I don’t know if the Echo Knight would be worth it. I guess the teleport swapping could be nice and attacking from its position while you are at a safer distance is ok but you have to be within 30 feet at the end of your turn or you lose it. So enemies can still reach you if they are also in that 30 ft range and unleashed incarnation doesn’t give anything new
I might recommend ranger or cleric/Druid. A Hunter ranger has colossus slayer for extra damage each turn and cleric/Druid gives some utility via spells
But as others have said, you lose some good features and Ki points by multiclassing

Monk is very back loaded. Unless there is something specific you're looking for, i'd just stay monk.
