I'm picturing this character as a joyful musical inspirer standing in front of other spellcasters and protecting them (sentinel, aid, spiritual guardians, circle of power, etc) and that thematically goes best with the oath of the ancients: "Delight in song and laughter, in beauty and art... be a glorious beacon for all who live in despair." Admittedly I don't think that the oath of ancients adds much beyond ensnaring strike and misty step, but if I were to pick a subclass for optimization, I think I would go for the vengeance paladin mainly for the superior spell list.

The only class who dosen't gets permission to use Cantrips ( Paladin ) it's the only thing I'm disgusted with on this Class. The rest is OK.
My Ready-to-rock&roll chars:
Dertinus Tristany // Amilcar Barca // Vicenç Sacrarius // Oriol Deulofeu // Grovtuk
Well now you can have cantrips on a paladin thanks to the Blessed Warrior fighting style.
