So I created a Aasimar (Protector) Oath of Ancients Paladin NPC for my latest campaign that I am running. He has studied a lot about the giant race and the All Father because he took the oath of ancients he is connected to nature and old magic which is somewhat tied to the first race (Giants). The race subtext specifies the following
"An aasimar, except for one who has turned to evil, has a link to an angelic being. That being – usually a deva – provides guidance to the aasimar, though this connection functions only in dreams. As such, the guidance is not a direct command or a simple spoken word. Instead, the aasimar receives visions, prophecies, and feelings."
I get that this can be loose in 5E but it fits the campaign really well overall. A prophetess gets a vision that shows the adventurers in an epic standoff so they go on this quest. I just don't know a good Celestial they could be linked to that would be canon. It does not have to be giant themed, but the campaign is about stopping a crime syndicate/cult group from bringing Tiamat back from Avernus. They will explore the ancient history of the war between giants and dragons and the dragon civil war. They will even encounter a neutral good stone giant that will provide them with magic weapons. Was wondering what is a good deva or celestial that could flow with this or is there not really a good option inside official canon.
Devas are inherently lawful good. It's up to you how you portray the devas. Yu can even link the deva to the deity the Paladin worships as devas are essentiall messengers.
This is a great part of Aasimar that DMs do not use nearly as often as they can. It's restricted enough that Players can't use it as a legal form of metagaming but it is open enough that the DM can direct players through the messages given.

I don't know enough to give you an answer, however this is a great concept and hopefully it works out!
