Hey, all! Trying to build my first multiclass, going for a nonmagical Scout/Fighter ranged build (but can also hold his own in melee for a bit), but I'm have difficulty deciding what subclass I should go with, and how much I should dip into fighter without neglecting my rogue features. Let me know what you fine people think! :D
1 level of Fighter can get you a lot to improve your Scout Rogue. You get the Archery Fighting Style, weapon proficiencies to get access to the longer range and higher damage Longbow or Heavy Crossbow. And a little self healing in the form of Second Wind. You might not need more levels of Fighter since it delays your Rogue features but it also depends on what level your campaign is likely to end.
I was thinking Scout 14/Battle Master 6. You still get a pretty respectable Sneak Attack, but you also get a couple fighter buffs that will help you out in open combat (Extra Attack, Maneuvers, etc.)

My character starts 20th level, my DM is pretty impatient when it comes to making characters OP lmao. He's giving us epic boons every now and then

I would perhaps stop at 3 levels of Fighter. The level 17 feature of Scout Rogue is too nice to pass up in my opinion.
That's valid lol

I have a 6/6 wood elf champion scout, elven accuracy, sharpshooter, 2attacks, archery fighting style, action surge, crits on 19, 3d6 sneak attack, +2 longbow, elven cloak, rapier of warning….love it
