Dmir operative from Ravnica gives you spells. Faceless (from Baldur's gate descent into avernus) is good but you should retrain disguise kit proficiency (but keep actual the kit) since you have it already.
Of the standard ones, criminal if you can find 2 more tool kits you want (to retrain to). Courtier might be useful.
This kind of seems like a cliché but ill put it here any way
My rogue was orphanad at a young age after drunken dragonborn racists killed my parents I ran away from the orphanage and found myself mixed up with a gang of thieves. I ran cons on the rich and used the money to buy myself decadent luxuries. That was until they came. The Templars. (I am a huge AC fan) I had honed my skills of murder in the dragonborn race and was ready to fight… Any ideas what next? EDIT: the actual background is chartalan
Here is the start of what became a 3 year campaign:
......................... I was born second heir to the house of Valantal, the ruling house of a Wood Elf Village of the same name (735 inhabitants) in the North Western reaches of the The High Forest, along the Dessarin River. My siblings were Feladir (dead), Zyris, Irasal and Ristel.
In my youth I trained alongside most of the young in the arts of battledance and the expected skills of highborn.
When my father Uraniel died of disease, my younger brother Zyris Valantar sought to kill all four siblings to secure him the seat instead of my older brother Feladir.
While my older brother Feladir was killed in the ensuing drama, Gefedel, the head of the lesser house Myrial helped me and my two younger sisters Irasal and Ristel escape and stay hidden for years.
Although he himself was never found guilty, my brother jailed his elder son Terniell until I was brought before him dead or alive.
Gefedel stayed strong, and repeatedly told me he would not give up my life even as his son was rotting in jail - innocent life was too precious to trade for improvement to another.
Years passed and a constant life in hiding combined with the knowledge that Gefedel practically sacrificed his son for mine burneded me.
Eventually I concluded that this situation was unacceptable, and I had to somehow take action.
I slowly started honing the fencing tecniques taught at my old college, but simultaneously practising the unfamiliar but neccesary skillset required to somehow get close to my brother and end him.
8 years ago have passed, and the time have come to start searching for a way to kill Zyris, free me of my debt and claim my rightful place in Valantal.
............................ Started as a Fighter1, ended as a Fighter 2/Gloomstalker5/Assassin8 - and rightful king of Valental.
Tell me the best background you thought of or found
