Just curious since I'm still somewhat new to Warlocks, but what other abilities for the warlock themselves or a party, would Hex's disadvantage on specific ability checks be effective with? My warlock (Tier 1) has done great with the party's wizard casting Maximilian's Earthen Grasp, using it on a Vampire Spawn and helping to surprise kill a Wyrmling along with making it harder for an assassin to sneak away, and making it harder for grappled opponents from escaping, but I'm wondering if there are other uses and combos out there.
Could work well with Wisdom checks if there is a Paladin in the party with Wrathful Smite. If it fails its initial saving throw, a creature must make a Wisdom ability check to end the effect early. As an action, the creature can make a Wisdom check against your spell save DC to steel its resolve and end this spell. So, locking down their wisdom could keep them frightened of the Paladin for the full fight.
If its an enemy spellcaster, if you can sus out what their spellcasting ability is then you could use Hex to try and prevent them from Counterspelling.

If you get a chance to cast it in a social situation you can hex charisma to give the other creature disadvantage on deception/persuasion/intimidation. Alternatively, you could cast hex on a guard and hex their wisdom so that their perception is at disadvantage so they are less likely to notice someone sneaking and their insight is at disadvantage so they are less likely to see through disguises or deceptions.
P.S. if you are playing cards with someone you think might be cheating you could hex their dexterity so that they might be more likely to fail sleight of hand checks.
