I understand that you are trying to incorporate this new system into your website. But it really should be something you select in a consistent area.
Like its really weird how the Fairy/Harengon chooses them on their abilities page. While say a Half Elf chooses its ability scores on its racial page. This should all be consistent.

This change in flow has only been applied to races and lineages that have 'floating' ASIs out of the box. For older races where the ASIs and ASI choices are 'baked in', the old system still applies because there's been no change.
The team is looking to further improve the character builder flow, but this is the first step, one based on feedback of how people use the builder. One common criticism was having to flip back and forth between the abilities page and the page where you set your floating ASIs as you tweaked what was assigned where.

I like how the Abilities tab incorporates a bit of the Race tab so you do not have to flip back and forth, but is it also possible to incorporate a bit of the Abilities tab (the stat generation portion where you can input manual rolls or assign points) into the Race tab too this way? That way, it preserves the consistency of doing all the racial ASIs on the race page, and the redundancy also allows players to roll their dice first if they wish to help them choose a class later, as well as giving a preview of what their score will be. And they can always go to the Abilities tab if they need more fine tuning or overriding.
Another idea to consider down the road is to let players rearrange their default flow of tabs (and let the players set their default content toggles too while we are on the subject, so users do not have to waste a character slot for a character template with preset toggles as the current work around). Some players roll dice first, so it may make more sense for them to use the Abilities tab even before the Home tab. I personally prefer to do character names last since I like to tailor the name to the character's build. Also, having the Home tab as the first page also slows down character creation for me a tad bit, as I prefer to go straight into the Race tab first and rather than the Home tab.

All ability scores for all races are able to be picked on the Ability Scores screen as of the most recent update.
