The concept is quite simple, really. Making a Homebrew category for languages will let us make more unique tongues in campaigns that may be important to the campaign or the characters.
I was creating a character for a campaign with a canonical Eldritch language, though I found to my dismay and utter disappointment, that Eldritch was not a language that I could choose from the base choices, and therefore it has been one of my quests to make Eldritch a real language. Unfortunately, my troubles had only started, for there was no language creator, and no one knew how I could set about making it.
And thus, this endeavor has brought me here. The final plan. I am here before you to help create something that can help all of us. To create new tongues to deepen the stories we make.
I have to admit, the typo in your forum post title is a bit ironic. 😉 (Edit: has now been corrected)
That being said, you can already add custom languages directly on the digital character sheet under Proficiency > Customize > Add Custom Language.
Just ignore selecting one of the other "official" languages in the character builder and replace it with a custom one (if you want to keep the same number of languages known).
With this, what languages do we want to bring to D&D?
I will hold a vote for what languages we want to create for the base game.
I will pin this comment, and anyone may reply with their language ideas. Tell your friends. Tell your campaign members. This isn't any idea. This is a revolution. We may change how D&D is played. We are making future stories deeper. We are helping create something that will bring new possibilities to the game.
