I want to create what is basically a magical upgrade to weapons, though I can't seem to find the 'any' weapon type like you'd have with the "Weapon +1" magic item. Is there a way to work around this or would I have to make the magic item for every single type of weapon?
You have to make every single type because that's how the system works including for official items. The 'generic' forms, such as weapon +1, only exist in the compendium/listings, which is a separate system from the character sheet inventory system and homebrew system
But wouldn't it be nice if we could have a handy dandy little thing in the weapon type section that just automatically made a copy of it for every weapon type? Instead of dedicating like 2 whole pages of our creations page to each duplicate of the single magic item? This is the feedback section and not the give-us-more-disappointing-answers section after all.

A question was asked, and an answer given. I'm sorry if you find that disappointing
The feedback you have provided is already something that has been suggested, albeit isn't something the system currently has the potential to support.

Isn’t that the point? The feature isn’t currently available, therefore the system has the be changed in some part, correct? Does this not apply to all feedback that doesn’t involve Wizards of the Coast and One?

There's a difference between "the system supports this, it's just not available as an option" and "this isn't available because the system can't support it". I was just trying to provide some context
The difference is exactly what I stated. There are some features that the system could support from a technical standpoint but don't for other reasons, and there are features that the system cannot support from a technical standpoint.
For example, homebrew could support allowing external links but doesn't because it's a safety and security issue. That is not a technical issue, it's an intentional choice for non-technical reasons. The suggestion presented here is blocked by a technical issue where the site does not have at this time the framework to support what is being asked
So there are features which Beyond simply doesn’t want to implement.
And there are features which would require some code modification to accomplish (which as far as I know would be all features not currently implemented)

Do I have this correct?
No, there are features D&D Beyond has not or cannot implement for non technical reasons and there are features that D&D Beyond has not/cannot implement for technical reasons.
