I and many others have certain table rules that prevent uses of certain class/race features. While it's true that we could "just ignore them" in the sheet, it would lead to a cleaner and easier user experience if there was an option to hide certain things from being viewed on the character sheet.

While I think it is indeed great that eventually we will have fully homebrewed classes (clearly, not an easy task).
In the short term, it would be very useful to just be able to hide certain things in the character sheet.
(like we need a display tag the game could check - then they do not show up in character sheet).
This would meet the desired of many members of the community, but would potentially have a significantly shorter development time than a full blown homebrewed character class option.
SIDE NOTE:
We don't need the ability to create a new class from scratch and all the work that entails.
We need a couple (or at least one) blank class to add subclasses to.
This blank class would only have proficiency bonuses, and maybe a hit die.
Given the incredibly power of the homebrew subclass features (and the fact you can add them at lower levels) - we only need a class that is not filled with archetype related skills etc at level 1. (i.e. no theives cant, no divine etc.).
Maybe have three - a martial one with extra attacks and hit die, a semi fighter one (d8 based) and a caster type (d6).
With homebrew - we could almost do the rest - and this would meet a LOT of the community's desire for creating a class.
(sometimes wanting to create a new class is NOT about what you want to add - it is about what you don't want there).
Any update on this? I took the Pirate background largely because of the Bad Reputation feature and the equipment, but the skills and tool proficiencies don't make sense for her due to Reasons. I was able to swap out the skills no problem, but I can't remove the tools, I can only add - I'm 99% sure where she'll be is landlocked, so no need for navigator's tools or water vehicle proficiency anyway. :P
I guess I'll live with it and make it clear that she can't actually do these things, but it's infuriating, especially when it's so easy to add/remove skills on the sheet.

Use a custom (not homebrew) background instead: that way you can have the feature you want from the Pirate and choose different tool proficiencies.

You can totally remove/replace tool proficiencies in the homebrewer. The “Tool Proficiencies” section is directly below the “Skill Proficiency” section.
Not only would this be great online, but if you want to export to PDF, and there is too much, stuff gets cut out.
For example, a Battle Smith Artificer has a steel defender that fills in THE ENTIRE ACTIONS section of the PDF sheets. Then if you just, delete that section, none of the other actions are there to fill it back in :(
I agree that this would be immensely helpful. While you could technically get them off your sheet by homebrewing a class/race that's exactly the same except for that one detail, it's a whole lot of hoops to jump through (if those hoops were spinning and also on fire).

Homebrewed classes are planned.

Oh, I see it now, thank you! It's hidden pretty well but it's there. Thanks!
Being able to remove/hide features from a character would be invaluable, would make house rules a lot easier to implement
Yes I agree, a Hide button seems easy to implement and would help out immensely
Yes please - would love this feature.
I would also like to ask for the ability to hide certain features to streamline or clean up the features menu. Thanks for the consideration!
I support this request.
I support this request. Please even if it was just hiding it from view but was technically still part of their character sheet if you dig deeper

Some classes are such trash, like Hunters and Monks, would be nice to get rid of all of the class features and make a better version from scratch.
