I've been using D&D Beyond for quite some time now. As a DM I find its use indispensable for managing the game at the table top. But there are still a lot of request, features and fixes that have been around forever. And with the new owners the fixation seems to be on content instead of improvement. There are still many items that display things incorrectly (e.g. circlet of blasting) and no auto reset ability counts on long rest. Things like a sidekick creator, or better ways to manage encounters. Just a couple off the top of my head. We've seen improvements to Avrae but that means little to me. We're getting onto the end of the year and going through the changelog... I don't see much changed.
Are we going to see actual new and improved functions any time soon?

Probably not, no. Since WotC took over Beyond there's been a collapse in rollouts of new and improved features (as well as engagement with users). Charitably, this may all be resolved when the VTT comes out, but I'm not holding my breath.
What if you don't want to wait until the VTT is ready? It's at least a year away, probably two years. What if you don't want to use the VTT?
I like the My Encounters system but it's still in beta and no new features have been added since the buyout. I really don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth from my master tier subscription.
Once WotC took over all improvements stopped as per normal with them. They see it like this.... you're already giving us your money because D&D beyond is so helpful so why should we make it any better 9 out of 10 people are not going to leave if we don't improve it so why bother screw the little guy, we make are money. Worse thing that could have happened for the D&D community was WotC taking over D&D beyond for sure.

I'd guess they are working on the One DND rollout and any major new functionality will come when that gets released.
They were apparently close to that Generic Feature System and then...never heard anything.

If you keep paying for it, they'll keep taking your money.
