Just an idea we wanted to share concerning the Beta Encounter Builder:
I'm running a campaign where players can roll initiative every round of combat (that way, they aren't stuck into a bad score all combat-long). To make things more efficient to manage the dozens of stat blocks we have per encounter, we use the encounter builder to quickly view all our character sheets and needed rolls! But, one thing we noticed though is that once you, "Run," the encounter, the initiative rolls no longer automatically update onto the scene. NPC's and Monsters, likewise, no longer have the option to automatically reroll their initiative scores either...
We were thinking of a slight change from the current model that would allow for more freedom of play! What if DM's could "lock and unlock" the automatically-updating initiative rolls at their discretion?! Say, after the encounter is "Run," initiative rolls would be automatically locked as they are now, (so that players aren't gaming the system for more preferable initiative scores!), but at any point after, the DM can "unlock" that auto-update whenever they wish!
In a standard DND game, it's probably not a likely circumstance, but on the off chance the DM wants to be nice to the players and give them a pity roll for their abysmal initiative scores, this feature could be a great quality-of-life upgrade to improve games and offer DM's more flexibility in terms of how they play! :D
What do y'all think? :)
