We all know a character creator is coming out in phase 2, but I'm interested in seeing just what makes this character creator unique compared to other online options. I want to know what you guys think will stand out the most and what will possibly make this a top-tier character creation system.
Another thing I'm interested in is the full extent of the character sheets. What is going to make these sheets any different than the PDF form fill-able ones on the WOTC website already.
saw629 I think tying the spells and monster compendium to the character sheet will make it stand out. There are already other online options that are great, so allowing you to access all if D&D Beyond from within your character sheet will go a long way.
Maybe your selected spells print out as spell cards a la 4E or like the decks sold separately?
If its anything like the PWYW character PDF sheet on the DMs Guild, which guides you through the steps of creating your character and picking what you want, then its golden in my book.
I'd like to see a few things for the DM to add his own customization to the sheet, such as in my game we have a Sanity Mechanic and a Fear Mechanic that's kept track of differently then the norm.
And maybe a DM wants a new Stat or something like bringing back Comeliness (LOL)

I'll be comparing it to the D&D Insider version that was out during the 4th Edition era. Even though I had a varied disgust towards this Edition the D&D Insider site had the best Character generators of all time. It was simply awesome. It also included all know worlds, Krynn, Greyhawk, DarkSun etc and Incorporated them into the character, gods included. It was amazing and easy to print off sheets with everything you needed. No more looking out things in the PHB.
This is what I would like to see only better.

"Can the mage hand carry the bundle of grenades?"
"I guess it can hold the weight, yeah."
"I shove the grenades down the dragons throat."

Does anyone have any idea when phase 2 will begin? That's really what I'm most excited about.

Agreed with @wadojeff except for the love of all the realms, keep it away from Silverlight.
A few other points and this applies to the current Beta stuff too:
A) Hire a UX designer who is going to take colour blindness into account. It impacts a not insignificant number of people
B) As DnD 40 years, some of us old-timers are starting to have a harder time seeing - make everything, including character sheets, scale-able.
