I feel like it’s kind of a waste of time to make a complaint about this, but my other option is do nothing. Sooo.
I will never spend hundreds of dollars to buy every piece of content that is available, and I think it’s safe to say that’s true of a majority of players. It was nice to be able to buy the subclass of the character I was playing, because that’s all I really needed at the time and it was extremely affordable. Now that that’s gone, I don’t see myself buying any piece of content. Why would I buy a 30 dollar book that is 99 percent things I don’t want or need? It simply makes no sense. The option to buy the book can still be available to those who want it.
Now they are rereleasing a players handbook? Who asked for that? I assume they just want money. Here’s how to get some of mine: break things down into smaller chunks and sell them individually or in small bundle packages. 1 new subclass for 2 dollars, 3 for 5 etc. There is content that is harder to divide than that, but it would be a much better use of your time to figure that out than to rerelease something we already own and expect us to pay for it again. This isn’t Skyrim.
I’m begging you, let us buy content in smaller pieces. I know it wouldn’t be as simple as listing everything for a smaller price, but it’s your job to figure that out!!!! This is something I want selfishly, but after thinking about it I genuinely believe it would be better for WotC and all your players if you figured out some kind of viable system for this.
Like I said, I won’t spend 30 dollars on a book that is mostly stuff I don’t want, but I would very, VERY quickly spend 30 dollars if I could comb through and pick out the things I did want and need. Win-win, right? Come oooooooooon.
