Desktop: It's frustrating to need to click though an additional page to get to the class pages. The new buttons are pretty and all but the functionality is worse.
Mobile: The fixed .ct-character-sheet-mobile__header z-index is preventing access to the Collections and Game Rules nav items.
Yeah, it's worse. And for no particular reason it seems. I'm not sure if they just don't get feedback from people or if the people they're asking genuinely don't use their product. Not just class pages, but spell lists for classes as well.
I assume this was done because with the new PHB coming out, there are going to be two versions of each class that people might want to access, which would have made the old layout potentially confusing. It's still frustrating, though. Something like the old layout, but with some sort of toggle to control whether the links go to the 2014 or 2024 content, would be infinitely preferable.
Yeah its really frustrating, I cannot state how many times I used the drop-down menu to find the specific class I needed to quickly look up rules for mid-game, or quickly filter spells by class using the drop-down menu. Now you've got to go through a whole new step to get to that point.
Adding my voice to this. It's not so much that the new design is bad, it's just that the former organization of the page was way more streamlined.
I'd gotten VERY used to hovering over Game Rules > Spells > Ranger (or whatever) and getting that list with very little effort and basically one click. Same with the classes. For reference, I'd always disliked that the Races page was NOT a hover-list, because, again, you couldn't just quickly select what you wanted.
Now it's: hover, find the spells button, type "Ranger" (or whatever) into the filter, and then finally get that list.
If there's any option to have the old list-selection interface, that would be awesome.
Just some feedback! (Really looking forward to getting a look at the new PHB!)
Yeah, I just ran my weekly games, and during each session, I quickly need to look up a spell or a class ability, but the extra steps are really slowing things down.
When looking up classes, now you have to click on "Classes," then scan through the jigsaw puzzle of class images to find the one you want (I know they are alphabetically arranged, but for some reason, I still find them more difficult to differentiate quickly). After that, you have to find the information you’re looking for, which is two clicks plus search time to get to a class page, compared to just one click before.
It’s the same for spells. You used to be able to immediately filter spells by school or class, which was really neat and convenient! Now, you first have to click into "Spells," and then use the (less-than-great) filter bars to achieve the same result. It just slows everything down, sadly. :(
Came here to complain about this issue; instead of being able to directly access the class I now have to go to classes, scroll to find the right class, then click view details.
Some sort of toggle switch with "simple" and "full" layouts or something would be nice. As for PHB2014 vs 2024, well that could just be another toggle switch I guess, with a default you can save in your profile.
That's a great idea, im currently running two 1 - 20 campaigns and we don't intend to switch mid-campaign to 2024, so I hope the functionality of viewing 2014 contend doesn't become too bothersome.

This is probably why they did it. Once the new PHB drops, the class menu would've had to become 21 entries, or it would've cut off access to the 2014 classes entirely.

Couldn't they have just nested the menu though? Classes->2014 or 2024->Class entries

I'm mostly just sad Party Mode is gone. Bring the rave wizard back!
It is a pretty weird design decision, to reduce functionality by adding an extra page to click through.
