I couldn’t find any option to provide feedback to D&D Beyond. Therefore I’m posting here.
I’ve been running a 2014 campaign for months. Recently a new player (new to D&D) joined the party. He used the character builder tool and surprisingly his character has weapon mastery feat and other 2024 features. Being a new player he likely doesn’t know anything about what’s going on with his character, and therefore I don’t want to start causing him problems by asking him to re-roll, etc. So what is happening at my table is we have a mix of “stuff” from 2014 playing with a mix of 2024 “stuff”.
From my perspective as a DM, it’s unclear to me what is the case with the character builder. Should it support an actual game with rules? I’m referring to 2014 and 2024. Because right now, per D&D Beyond’s own official changelog, players are supposed to be able to mix 2014 and 2024. That’s not a game.
I’d like to finish the campaign using 2014 rules. My only option seems to be to request people use paper character sheets and the 2014 book.
My feature request for D&D Beyond is a simple one: in the character builder, allow players/users to optionally elect 2014 or 2024 rules and D&D Beyond uses only those rules. For example, present only character options from the selected game version.
Thank you for your time.
