Are there plans to implement a section for keeping track of 2024 wildshapes? Available forms for your level, temp hp, proficiencies, AC (if a moon Druid), number of uses, etc.
the 2024 wildshape rules have yet to be implimented, but the method i use is the Extras tab. only place the "known" shapes within, and you can edit each of the beasts HP and AC within the 'customize' tab of each creature. The number of uses for wildshape are tracked within your features and traits.
Proficiencies should be tracked properly as the rules are the same as in 2014's druid, but i've noticed some discrepancies when my beastform has a higher modifier than my druid, specifically in a Panther's expertise in stealth being listed as +4 instead of +6.
@Whisper200, Do you know if it is on their development path to implement this? Are these updates somewhere I could see?
@PickePotato13, I use the Extra's tab as well to keep track of known beast forms.
I put this in the Discord today in the #ddb-feedback channel:
Feature Requests: Druid Class update
1) When managing a Druid level - 2nd level - Wild Shape selection. A selectable list of eligible Beasts appear, and the list is filtered based on the user's Druid level. These are selectable just like spells are selectable.
2) After 2nd level is managed by the user, the user now can see on their character sheet, under the Actions tab, under the Bonus Action section the Wild Shape description. Update this section by adding the user's selected list of beasts, and an"Equip" button next to each form. If the user has Wild Shape slots available, they will see each of their available forms with a button that says,"Equip". If at any time Wild Shape slots do not exist, then all beast forms(not in use) are greyed out. Once the user selects"Equip" a few things occur:
A Wild Shape slot will be filled (just as spell casting works).
The user's stat blocks on the character sheet are updated. This is similar to equipping an item. There will have to be a comparison of which is the higher stat (the existing or the beasts), and must pick the higher stat between the two.
The beast/button that was selected now shows "Unequip"
If other Wild Shape slots are available the other forms show "Equip" still. However, any click to a different beast form automatically "Unequip"s the original beast form.
Why do this update? My first time ever playing a Druid, and I have spent hours trying to understand how in the world I was supposed to select beasts:This is putting it all back on the players, and I feel like this update could really make it less confusing, and more fun for people to play something unique and interesting
"When choosing known forms, you may look in the Monster Manual or elsewhere for eligible Beasts
I am a web developer, and could implement this feature on my own time if you would give me the opportunity to work pro bono. I have no issues signing non-competes. There is still a cost on your part for the development time to review my pull request, and ensure all the code I wrote works and doesn't break anything. Feel free to message me directly on discord, or on linkedin if you are serious on taking me up on my offer. I just really love this website, and my gameplay, and it is seriously bugging me when I know this experience could be better. Thanks, Here's the character that inspired all of this: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/132153999
Update to my request. I spoke with Software Development Manager at DnD Beyond, and she let me know:
"It sounds like a nice feature. I’ll send it over to the front-end team that does character creation. However, I have a feeling that this will push the code in ways it currently isn’t designed to be pushed, which will make it an expensive feature to implement right now. We are making a backend for the platform that will make these sorts of changes much easier, but it won’t be ready for a while."
And when talking to her about implementing the feature myself for free there are just too many liabilities for the company to take on. There are legal issues that become just too difficult to bring someone on for stuff like this, they'd have to actually hire me, and pay me to do things like this to have better coverage of the liabilities that they are exposed to when having a developer have access to update the code: "That simply isn’t possible. There’s no practical way to get you access to the codebase without also giving you access to trade secrets and customer data."
They did just push an update shortly after this in the extra's tab that gives us a better stat block visual for the beast forms though!
I still think that my idea is better, but it seems this is going to be what we get.

Extras -> Manage Extras -> choose a category. 2014 Wildshape is all there is currently without the 2024 rules added yet.
Don't really play Druids, but I definitely see how a system to manage this better would be a nice feature to add.
