It'd be a nice feature if a campaign's GM could automatically award XP to all/some of the characters in the campaign, rather than having to tell the players and have each player add the XP to their characters.
as a DM i can see the benefit of this, but as a player i actually like to add my own XP to my character sheet! i've worked hard for it and adding it myself gives a real sense of achievement.
But having the option is always nice as it is an option so you can choose it if you want to.

Yeah, I'm suggesting the option to do it, not a change to the current method. Some players don't like to maintain their DDB character sheets, or they might forget to add the XP, or, as is currently the case in a campaign I'm running, are unable to play and are having their characters run by another player.
DMs can add XP to player sheets the same way players can.
There's no current way to award in bulk, but XP is typically awarded in varying amounts anyway.
I know the DM can edit the characters in their campaign; what I'm suggesting is an option to add XP in bulk. Regarding XP being awarded in varying amounts... how do you figure? I know this used to be true back in older editions, when Rogues got XP for gold looted, spellcasters got XP for spells cast, etc., but now, XP is awarded for enemies defeated, for milestones, reached, etc.; most often, all characters are present when these events happen, so they all get the same amount of XP. Obviously, the DM is free to modify XP awards for fights, and to add extra XP for specific actions, but is this common ("typical")?
Typical to my experience as a player, and to what I've read of online, when dealing with exp gain rather than milestone leveling. Milestone leveling is my only experience as a DM myself.
Mileage could certainly vary, and if that's not an issue for you or your campaign than certainly a bulk award would be preferable.
Selectable bulk awarding would be nice too... I just did have a situation where the party split into three, each group of which ended up with different XP awarded. In my dream world, I would just have the list of players in the campaign, click on the ones I wanted to bulk award XP to, and then say how many points to award. Would be drastically easier than the best approach I've found so far, which is to open an "edit" tab for each PC who gets the XP, then for each of them click on "2. Class", then "Manage XP", enter the XP and hit apply, then close the tab.
