Hey guys, I just want to start off by saying that i LOVE Beyond and all that it's done for me. It is my go to tool for everything D&D. One complaint that I have though is the character builder when you pick your source material. If I'm making a Forgotten Realms character then I turn off Eberron and MTG content. That's simple. The problem is that once you want to add a class or subclass from one of those books you cannot access them unless you allow all content from the campaign settings. You may say "well those are options for those settings", but the books CLEARLY state that classes such as Artificer and subclasses like the Order Domain exist in other worlds. They each have an entire paragraph explaining how these options tie into other worlds. "So why not just allow all content and ignore what you don't want to use from other settings?" The issue here is that once all content is allowed there is no way (or at least no easy way) to identify which races and feats don't belong in a non Eberron or MTG campaign. You would have to search in the bar at the top to verify which book they came from to see if they're legal. This is why all (multi-world enabled) classes and sub-classes need to be available to choose in character creator when Eberron and MTG, etc, content is turned off.
TLDR: I LOVE this website, but character creator needs to allow you to choose all classes and sub-classes without having to enable sources such as MTG and Eberron.
Agree. Plus, imo, toggle buttons should exist in the Campaign manager section to allow/disallow specific sub-content. Especially with the new Class Features variants, DM will need to have an easy way to decide-- for a specific campaign-- what features/classes/subclasses/spells are available to their players and which ones are not.
Hey, sorry to necro this thread, but I still think that this is an important improvement for the character builder. When creating a new character that isn't meant for critical role, eberron or mtg, I should be able to select classes and subclasses such as artificer and order domain without having to turn that content on. The issue is that by turning the content on it allows the inclusion of choices such as feats and races that aren't allowed in the default campaign setting. Artificer and order domain (maybe circle of spores) should be default options allowed for standard characters.
