For example with bladelocks if we can go in and customize the weapon/attack of our go-to pact weapon to derive its bonuses from Cha instead of Dex or Str it would make it easier for us to generate sheets with our actual combat stats and keep us from having to mentally correct from what is on the page otherwise.

There are several occuracances where this is an issue. I’m thinking a clever way to fix the blade lock weapon issue is to have a drop down within the feature that would allow you to select a weapon. Either from the weapons you have in your inventory or if you have the pact of the blade feature, then that could be a selection too. Pact of the tome - book of ancient secrets needs some love too. Specifically, access to choose spells.

If within the feature you have the override, then it would be less confusion on the main interface, but it would kinda hinder any kinda home brew aspect that would follow you along the same guide lines. In theory though, you could just home brew a subclass soon enough...

It looks like the new character sheet overhaul has TONS of customization and looks more similar to the classic official character sheet. No ETA but seems like heavy Dev time being put towards. Can't for the life of me find the posts with a sneak peak of new sheet but theNovember Dev Blog will likely be discussing many more details as it is they mentioned it also in the October blog.
For now, you can add custom attacks under the "Attack" tab to resolve. Badeye posts (post #170) a walk through Here for exactly that same question.
Happy gaming
Edit: Of course I find the upcoming character sheet layout the moment I login today:
