I've noticed that that all monster saving throws are calculated automatically based on their CR. There doesn't appear to be a way to override this, which means that--for instance--creating an NPC with class levels equivalent to the characters requires a misleading CR equal to the party's level. Usually the auto-calculation is convenient, but I think there should be an option to manually define it if necessary.
Speaking of auto-calculation being convenient, is there any way we can get a similar system set up for skill modifiers? They all need to be defined manually at present, and while that's sometimes nice, creating certain monsters would be a much faster process if there were an option to simply select proficiency or expertise for skills in the same way that one can currently select resistance or immunity for damage types.
On that note, could we please have the option to manually define resistances and immunities? It's no fun wanting to make a monster with, say, "immunity to magical damage" when you're limited exclusively to the damage resistances of existing monsters.
Creating NPCs with class levels is supposed to calculate proficiency by CR and not "level." It says so in the DMG. DDB will always follow the official rules if able.
But that aside, their does need to be an override for saves as there are even official monsters with incorrect saves because the source does something weird like a magic item or applying a template and not recalculating proficiency.
And the homebrew tools are planned to be revamped so they are easier to use and don't force you to only use official options. No ETA though.
