Character builder is great but doesn’t fullfil the role of flashing out completely the Needs for more / less deatailed NPCs in a campaign.
Using Homebrew Monster Builder for Monsters and Char Builder for important NPCs is a workaround that not provides the DM a consistent approach for managing a campaign NPCs.
Few suggestions:
1) Create a Folder in the campaign for NPCs
- Leverage Char Builder for Playable races
- Integrate Monster Compendium to move a Monster Template Features into a Char Builder so that Monstruous NPCs can be quickly created / named and managed inside a campaign... adding personality details / equipment and spell selections without having to resort to Home Brew cretions everytime (basically moving the statistics to a Char Sheet)
- This approach will enable seamless integration with existing VTT platforms and provide a lot of value to DDB users
