I have a big wish which will most likely not come true ever, but I still have to ask:
I would love it immensely if we could get an alternative character sheet that doesn't feature the skill list as it is currently.
In my experience, this skill list only emphasizes and promotes players to think in terms of "skill-buttons to push" and not in terms of "in-character activities" and actually describing their actions.
They don't say "I open up all cupboards and chests, and look into pockets and boots", they say "I wanna roll Investigation".
No more "I keep a close eye on the king's counselor. Does he look nervous or is he acting weird?", it's "I wan't to roll Insight on the Counselor".
The list also doesn't help in applying the optional, but rather useful, rule of detaching Skill proficiencies and abilities.
So bottomline:
I would love to include Skill Proficiencies in the same list as weapon, armor, and tool proficiencies
and have the skill list be replaced by e.g. a generalized list of 6 "proficient skills", one for each ability score.
Alternatively, a bigger ability score area could include additional values for "bonus with proficiency" as well as passive scores for both with and without proficiency. This would bundle all relevant information at one place.
Yeam you asking for them to make a non D&D official character sheet. The sheet they present to us is the exact same as if I made my character by hand with pen and paper. DDB wants to offer us the most official and RAW experience so this is not likely to happen. Also you can add lots of extra skill rolls to the sheet on your own. So you can simply add something called "bonus w/ prof" for each of the ability scores.
Also removing them from the sheet will not fix your problem. You need to change your players minds and say "How do you slight of hand" instead of just asking for the roll. All my players know that they can say what they do and I'll call for the roll. They never say "I wanna roll investigation" because I have explained that if you tell me what you do, there might not even be a roll involved.

Well. That's it.

Well alternatively, an option to remove all default skills and be able to add only custom skills would also work as an intermediate solution
But that would not be the official Character sheet anymore - as was my point
