Developing a sorcerer whose back story suggests he calling upon eldritch energies. Using spell sniper at level 1 with a variant human, i gave my character eldritch blast. at level 4 i plan to take the feat eldritch adept to gain access to agonizing blast in order to maximize my offensive power. However, Eldritch Adept is not generating the eldritch invocation for this because Eldritch blast is an added spell rather than one I have selected, apparently not showing it anywhere else. The prerequisite for Agonizing blast is that I have the spell Eldritch blast, not that it has to be one of the ones on my spell list options. This seems to be the case with several other feats. The only way to gain access to agonizing blast was to multiclass with a warlock, as even magic initiate did not grant this. However, being a warlock is not the prerequisite for this eldritch invocation, only that you have eldritch blast
"If the invocation has a prerequisite of any kind, you can choose that invocation only if you’re a warlock who meets the prerequisite."
Doesn't matter what the prereq is and if you can fill it without being a warlock, if it has a prereq you have to have a level in warlock to be able to choose it.
The prerequisite for Agonizing Blast is to have the cantrip Eldritch Blast. My character gained access to this at lvl 1 by being a variant human and taking the feat spell sniper. At lvl 4 I took the feat eldeitch adept, which gives me access to eldritch invocations. Yet Agonizing Blast is not on the list despite the fact I do have the only requirement, Eldritch blast. It seems that is only recognizing it if Eldritch blast is on your direct spell list for the class as every other means does not generate the Invocation. However, this is not the prerequisite. The only requirement is only the cantrip Eldritch Blast. I do not require a lvl in warlock to gain the invocation
Yes you do. That's what the feat is saying. The feat makes available to non-warlocks those invocations that have no prerequisites. It also makes available to warlocks one additional invocation, so long as they meet that invocation's prerequisites. It does not make all invocations available to all characters.
