The description of the Bracers of Defense states: "While wearing these bracers, you gain a +2 bonus to AC if you are wearing no armor and using no shield." Therefore when you equip a shield or an armor the AC bonus provided by the Bracers of Defense should be disabled. The bug occurs when you have the bracers equipped and attuned, and then equip armor or shield, or have armor and shield then attune to the bracers.
The armor or shield bonus is added to the bonus provided by the Bracers of Defense when calculating the total AC of the character, disrespecting the RAW of the item
If you click on your AC to get the breakdown of how it's calculated, you'll see that it's calculating it using your barbarian unarmored defense.
Yes, you're wearing armor, but the system will calculate whichever is the best AC you have available, and use that. This is probably to avoid messing up inexperienced players who forget to unequip things.
If you really want to be wearing the armor, there may or may not be a way to force that to be used.

The Bracers work correctly for me. I tried with different characters and it worked as per RAW every time.
Maybe give a link to the affected character?
