Hello! Does anyone know why DnD Beyond went down with an error on a black screen? It didn't look like a normal error to me. Any ideas on what might of happened? Thanks!
I've been coming and going to this site constantly for the last 16 or so hours, multiple times per hour. Sometimes quick checks, sometimes testing things, etc. Not once was it ever down for me.
Either I was lucky, it was very brief and I missed it, or it might be a 'you' thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks, that's confusing because it was like that for me and another friend at the same time, and the website Downdetector, which lets people report if a website is down and tracks it said it was down for 2 and a half hours. Perhaps it was an area thing. Thank you!
It's a little less confusing when you realise how accessing websites work. It's common to thing your browser just accesses the site directly but in actuality the packets of data travel between your device, to your ISP's network, to multiple different servers along a route, to the site's domain registrar, and finally to the site's server. If the different servers and networks along that route are down, you become unable to access the target site - but other people who are in different areas or use different ISPs, may still access the site because their info packets use a different route.
So it is very possibly an area/location thing where the site wasn't down but the "stops on the way" were for you and your friend.
I hope that made sense. I'm not good at explaining this stuff and it's been a long ass time since I've had to ever think about it. 🤣
