I just noticed, that the dndbeyond webpage provides two different subscription prices on different pages.
1. On the "Subscription" page (from the menu pane) it provides two prices next to the free trial promo: "then starting at $2.17 a month" for hero tier and "then starting at $4.58 a month" for master tier.
2. On the checkout page the prices are $2.99 + tax / month for hero tier and $5.99 + tax / month for master tier.
The actual checkout price is roughly 30% (5.99 / 4.58) higher than the advertised price on the subscription page.
It's a bit confusing, but "then starting at $4.58" does not mean, as one might think, "then we start charging you $4.58" but rather "then our prices start at $4.58 for the cheapest billing cycle option"
$4.58 is the correct amount if you choose the longest billing cycle. If you pay annually, it's $54.99 per year, which comes to $4.58 per month. If you pay bi-anually it's $29.99 per 6 months,, which is $4.99 per month. If you pay month to month, it's $5.99 per month.
Ah, yes. It checks out and I didn't think to divide the yearly sum by 12. Though it is still confusing as the yearly plan is bought in bulk and there is no monthly fee then. It specifically says: "We won't charge your card today. You will be charged $54.99 in 30 days if you don't cancel your membership before trial expiration date."
I could theoretically think that if I instead had paid this sum in monthly chunks, it would total to 4.58 a month, but there is no option that actually allows such monthly payments. The only plan with an actual monthly fee is the one month option. I still believe it is slightly misleading, though it is not false.

I believe the starting price you're seeing is if you subscribe yearly.
