I'm trying to convert my 2014 Level 9 Paladin/Oathbreaker to the 2024 rules. I know I already own the PHB 2014, 2024 and DMG2014, and I have verified the account licenses are synced.
When I go to manage my character everything looks ok (current weapons/armor/feats/backgrounds), except the Spells. When I got to set my spells prepared, its empty, I don' know any. When I start setting spells to be KNOWN, it takes away from the 9 that are marked as PREPARED that I get so I never actually get to know all the spells.
I've read some post to get around this by just copying the class as a homebrew, I dont care to publish cuz its just for me. When I do the subclass copy if first chose the 2014 paladin then oathbreaker, when I try to apply that to a new character the homebrew doesn't show up because I'm assuming its mapping the 2014 and choosing a 2024 base wont work. So I made another homebrew going to the 2024 paladin and choosing the oathbreaker, I get the same results as just going through the normal creation process, no spell known and whatever I learn is mapped against max prepared. Here is the link for that (https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/2296896-death-knight-oathbreaker), you can tell on the page where it has base class it's using the 2014 paladin symbol.
So next I started entirely from scratch, chose the 2024 paladin and ran through every line item I could to make it all the same and comparing them into this (https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/2296966-death-knight-oathbreaker-v2), again base class shows the 2024 paladin class. Now one thing I noticed people said to make sure of was that the "KNOWS ALL SPELLS" set to YES, and under additional spell list is has BOTH Paladin 2014 and Paladin 2024. I am still unfortunately seeing the same results, all spells are not know and whatever I chose to know goes against my prepared and stuff granted as always prepared do not show up. I select what I want and after taking a long rest, they do not show up in may spells list, assuming then cuz they are not prepared.
I have heard some people say to make an item an attach everything you want, but I'm not really good at coding and I get lost in all these screens. I was holding out hoping the new DMG would have updated this stuff but that appears to be a bust. What other options do we have here?, kind of getting frustrated.
Keep in mind the Paladin isn't going to want to stay as an Oathbreaker long because he'll be making the enemies the party will probably be fighting stronger.
Starting at 7th level, the paladin, as well any fiends and undead within 10 feet of the paladin, gains a bonus to melee weapon damage rolls equal to the paladin's Charisma modifier (minimum of +1). A creature can benefit from this feature from only one paladin at a time.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
