Title pretty much says it all. When making a homebrew monster using the monster editor, Ctrl-B and Ctrl-I do not seem to un-bold or un-italicize previously bold or italicized text. Manually clicking the editors bold and Italicize buttons also does not fix the issue. Is anyone else having this problem? Are there any solutions to it on the client end?
I've occasionally had that happen on the forums, which I believe uses the same editing tools. Clear formatting also didn't work. Its definitely not the best tools in the house, most notably because you can't see the coding that affects the formatting. Like if on a forum that uses BBCode, you can see that italics just adds in [i] and [/i] around the word, though other sites may use <i> and </i>.
My understanding is that this lack of what I would normally consider basic functionality is actually as intended. The way that I've cleared it up in the past is to backtrack and type over it. Now, when I want to use italics or bold, or what have you, I type the whole thing out first, then as I read through it before posting I add in the formatting.
This can happen when you copy and paste text from another source - it will also copy the formatting, which may be complex css styles, rather than just simple bold or italic.
I recommend that when doing so, you paste raw text, rather than formatted text (if using chrome, you can right-click and then choose "paste as plain text").
If you wish to see the formatting applied to your text, you can also click on the source code button (immediately right of the blockquote button).
Whatever you call the thing that happens between RAW HTML and BBCode turning stuff into what you see when typing, is awful here. I constantly have to use the code </> button to fix stuff in homebrew and campaigns.

For my own use, I've noticed it when I type it out and format it myself, not when it's been copy/pasted. It only ever seems to happen when something's been formatted and left to "sit." Like, I'll type out a while longer after italicizing, or take more time to consider my response. Then, when I do my check through, I may decide to modify what is in italics and it just doesn't go away until I erase it and retype it.
It's happened pretty rarely, maybe only three times that I can recall, and honestly it's not that much of a bother to fix. I've also just grown used to adding formatting after I've finished the post and I'm reading through it before hitting the button.
Thanks for pointing out the formatting button though! That's a big improvement right there.

I have the same problem.
