I know this post is old, but it's something I've found and noticed, and it seems like it's been an issue for over a year. I'm sure it has dropped quite a ways in their backlog of bug fixes though, unfortunately, but it is a tad annoying. A default of 20/60 would definitely be better than 5/5, if they're looking for a quick fix. Otherwise, have multiple thrown settings to choose from (Thrown 20/60, Thrown 15/30) based on existing weapons, so they don't need to change the parameters of data being given.
Just searched the Forum for how to address this particular issue. I too would appreciate addressing this (or an explanation as to whether some of the existing fields can be used to modify range of thrown property from '(5/5)' ). Thanks.
Gonna bump this, too. I know StormKnight mentioned they're working on actions for magic items, but that's an overkill fix for this. Just have the Thrown property behave exactly like it does for other weapons. I can't imagine that's too difficult to code. (Says the guy who doesn't code.)

Interesting that a dev would reply weeks after a person commented, but provide no positive feedback for the problem. Why can't something like this just be immediately changed? Change default to 20/60 from 5/5 and done. Your reply doesn't contribute to the discussion, either, just attempts to prevent it from going on. Oh well.
It's possible that MellieDM is just a moderator, and not a dev, and could possibly not even be working super closely with the dev team, or even with D&D Beyond. They might know as much as us.
Given their huge backlog of things they need to do, I doubt something as low priority as this would ever get pulled in, but I still do think a simple change of a default 20/60 would suffice for what most people want. It's a small nuisance, but overall affects my game very little.
Adding the "Thrown" weapon property as a modifier to a magic weapon (battleaxe) adds a range of (5/5) when viewed on a character.
There appears to be no ability to adjust the range that is automatically assigned with the thrown property.
Should at least default to (20/60).
I found this as well!! I would love to adjust the range value
Im with you guys on it.

Still having this bug a year and a half later... Please, fix this.
Adding to the bumps. Please fix!
I'm surprised this is still a problem 4 years later...
yeah, it's disappointing, i tried to make a non-exandrian blunderbuss, by reducing the range (and maybe damage,) but i couldn't adjust the range
It's 2024 now, and this still hasn't been fixed? Is it going to be ignored forever?
Please fix
