Help I am a newb.....I can not add spells to my Pally at level 1. For some reason it is not an option until level 3 and then not all spells are there. the Player hand book has like heroism, searing smite and 15 other options as lvl 1 spells. Please help explain or give me some insight.
Character level and spell level do not correlate. Once your paladin gains spellcasting abilities at character level 2, they will then have access to level 1 spells because they are now a level 1 spellcaster even though you are a level 2 character.
As for spells being missing even after you level up, have you paid for access to any content on the site (eg purchasing the PHB or spells from the marketplace)? If you don’t purchase content for use on the site, and you aren’t part of a campaign with content sharing turned on, you only have access to whatever is provided for free in the Basic Rules, of whatever you homebrew yourself (you can homebrew most content, but it takes time, and some of the smite type stuff is tricky).
