The Soothing Words class feature should be represented by calm emotions showing up in my spell list, like bonus spells from race or magic items, instead of as an action block.
This is probably because it has limited uses and unlike magic items the subclass features cannot link spell uses to the limited action checkboxes.
This will probably be resolved with the revamp of the system behind this should this UA be around then.

I don't think so. Similar racial features like the firbolg's use of disguise self and detect magic work properly. I think this one was just coded improperly by someone who didn't notice it let you use a spell (since the spell isn't linked properly, either, in the action description).
