I have a Kenku Monk character. This is the first time I've played either of those, so I could be mixed up, but I think there's a bug wrt equipping shield and armor.
Unarmored Defense Beginning at 1st level, while you are wearing no armor and not wielding a shield, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Wisdom modifier.
Unarmored Movement Your speed increases by 10 feet while you are not wearing armor or wielding a shield.
When I have no armor and no shield, I have 40 movement (30 + 10 unarmored movement), and AC is 18 (10 no armor + 4 DEX + 4 WIS unarmored defense).
When I equip leather armor, I have 30 movement and AC is 18 (10 no armor + 4 DEX + 4 WIS unarmored defense). I think the movement is right but that the AC should be 15 (11 leather + 4 DEX).
When I equip a shield, I have 40 movement (30 + 10 unarmored movement), and AC is 20 (10 no armor + 4 DEX + 4 WIS unarmored defense + 2 shield). I think the movement should be 30, and the AC should be 16 (10 no armor + 4 DEX + 2 shield).
So in summary, it looks like wearing leather armor doesn't update the base AC or negate the unarmored defense as it should; and wearing a shield doesn't negate unarmored movement or unarmored defense as it should.
Yeah they know about these. The AC just uses the highest calculation it is given. There are several natural armor features and unarmored defense is just treated the same. And a lot of different armor penalties are not working properly yet.
Maybe soon, maybe later. They just did an update on the character sheet back end that made it possible for them to handle some of the other armor penalties I mentioned. Not sure how much can be fixed with the new setup, they are still working on new bugs it created.

Additionally, equipping a shield does not lower the movement, from Unarmored Movement.
