BUG: In the character builder for a Sorcerer with the Draconic Bloodline Sorcerous origin type the ability gained at 6th level, Elemental Affinity is set to the damage type "Fire" regardless of the Dragon Ancestor chosen at 1st level. I chose "Silver Dragon" which should have given me Elemental Affinity to Cold damage, but the sheet shows Fire damage and there is no bonus to damage on any of my cold spells.
I saw this bug as well. It doesn't only just show as Fire damage either. Sometimes the Elemental Affinity will be Lightning, even though you picked a Dragon Ancestor that has a different element type. I had to set Dragon Ancestor to various things and leave that page a number of times before I got it to also show Elemental Affinity correctly as Cold. Unfortunately, this meant I had to leave Dragon Ancestor to White, even though I am Silver.
Another issue is that the bonus damage from Elemental Affinity does not actually affect the damage rolls of the corresponding spells. This would be immensely useful. My expectations would be that if Elemental Affinity was Cold, then spells like Ray of Frost would have the Charisma modifier included in the damage roll.
Still an issue I have a gold dragon Ancestor. The Resistance to fire is properly shown, the Elemental Affinity changes almost every time I update something on the PC (level or Metamagic ect if I go in to changes menu the Affinity might be changed).
The element only shows as random for features your character does not yet have. The moment you level up enough to get the feature it becomes fixed. This is just because future features don't know what element you chose - or can't. It's probably a limitation with the software.
Because it only does it for future features - it has no bearing on your character whatsoever. Ignore it.
That PC is lvl 9 and the thing has show multiple different damage types tho I have never changed the original dragon from golden. True it has no bearing on how I play, but when my dm imports my sheet in to foundry then I set my macro to roll it auto when detecting that damage type its becomes an issue when it changes all the time.
Like last night fire bolt hitting for almost max damage with the extra 5 damage killing a session endboss or leaving it with 4 hp and it dimension doors out. No bearing, maybe, game changing, possibly.
Link your character then so a mod can take a look. I have never seen a report of this bug extending beyond the level they get it. It's only ever randomised the element while the feature is in the "Available at higher levels" section. As soon as the character levels up to have the feature it always (and I've tested it recently) fixes to the correct element.
It hasn't changed again since last level up and I just had to swap it to Red dragon then back to Gold so it updated to fire and stayed fire. My first problem may have been at level up to 6 (acid). But we leveled up again last week 8 to 9 and when I checked it was set to ice. Again I just fixed it by going back in to builder.
I am having this issue as well. I have the Elemental Affinity ability, but the damage type is seemingly random and changes each time I reload my character sheet. My draconic ancestor has remained "white dragon" the entire time.

This is also a bug in the dragon born origin type. Elemental types do not correlate to listed dragon type chart.
