I’m a DM & used and paid subscriber for DNDB for years.
I have paid for content, source books, adventures, made literally hundreds of homebrew items/stat blocks & even published a few to the community.
While even completing one shots & a full campaign, still on a two year campaign at current, it is vital for my players for me to share my content to them as most use DNDB, including when I teach new players.
Updating my paid for content to new editions without my consent is unacceptable, myself and many others are here to voice our concerns.
If you wish to add in the new edition changes, have them in line additionally with content, or previous edition content as legacy, otherwise myself and likely others will leave this service.
Posting to agree. I have several long campaigns in mid-flight that I've spent a lot of my precious free time setting up.
It's unacceptable that a subscription service that I'm paying for (specifically to more easily use the content that I've paid for outright) is able to execute sweeping changes that impact my campaigns without my permission.
Rule #1 of Software as a Service (which btw D&D Beyond is, Hasbro; it's not a video game) - to avoid alienating your customer, all impactful changes are opt in.
Agree. The update should run more like other SAAS models where you can set a toggle on a character or campaign for which rule set you have access to that it will run under.
People play different versions for a reason. This would also let them "sell" more as they could even then make a db/rule option for 3.5, as I know several DMs who still use those...
Roll20 has nailed it perfectly having a toggle between the 2014 and 2024 stuff giving us the choice, if a toggle isn't provided here I will be jumping ship.

Mid campaigns here as well. This is a total cluster**** (and mind you, I WAS going to buy the 2024 books)
