I'm aware this may never get read by the devs, and even if it does it's been made pretty clear that they don't really care what their customers want. (i.e. horribly lacking map software that can be upstaged by Tableplop, Incarnate, roll20 etc).
But I'll throw this out into the ether just on the off chance someone with some compassion toward the people spending thousands of dollars to run their games sees and considers it...
The encounter builder NEEDS attention! First and foremost, the ability to either CHANGE the names of monsters or at VERY LEAST add a Nickname to it! This is simple code, and honestly should have been introduced from day 1! As a DM I run many different monsters, and I despise the idea of running them in grouped initiative - so I split them up. I also NAME my monsters and NPCs sometimes, for immersion, and it would be nice if the Encounter Builder would allow me the ability to discern them from one another while running it...
Anyway, maybe if enough of us DMs gather together and start demanding to be heard we can get them to change some of the things we want. Honestly, it's the least they can do considering the amount of money they get from us...
I do agree Encounters needs an update. I feel the nickname thing is something that can currently be solved through homebrewing a statblock to change the name. It needs to have 2024 functionality and a way to denote ally stat blocks.
Encounters in the Encounter Builder are grouped into Campaigns... One thing I would like to see is when people in the group/campaign level up, it is reflected in the Encounter Builder automatically. It currently shows the characters old level and bases the difficulty level on that old level instead of updating it. People have to go in and manually change it for each and every encounter they created for that campaign. What a Camp-PAIN!
Bumping the thread because I really want to see improvements to the Encounter Builder. It is such a clutch tool for me at the table. Maps just don't do it since I don't need or actually want maps. I just want the ability to build encounters.
